As many of you are
aware the home has had major issues with some of the
staff and this visit by Edna and her husband was to
oversee new staff and help towards getting the
registration finalized for Lioness Cubs as a
children institution. ( The home is now registered
as a NGO which is not really applicable)
To get the home registered there are many rules and
restrictions to follow and the first thing we had to
do is to discuss the staff with the children
department.
After Edna’s
discussion with the children’s welfare department ,
Board members and trustees we were instructed to
release Mama Jane and other staff members of which
Irene agreed was the appropriate way forward.
Mama Jane was sacked
for gross neglect towards the care of the children
also stealing -cheating the funds and taking goods
that never belonged to her,
The other staff `s
issues were dealt by Irene - Monica, myself and
William of Kikambala Childrens Home.
We now have new staff
Mrs Cecilia
Bochaberi the new Manageress.
Margaret is the House
Mother
Elizabeth is the
House Aunty
Mary is our excellent
resident cook and evening carer for the little ones.
We have a new
addition to the house a little girl by the name of
Milly David. Actually her real name is Miriam but
Monicah and two children could not say their R`s so
she was renamed Milly ♥
This child was seen
by Monicah living a dreadful life in a Kiosk near
Shanzu, although she will be two years old in
October her appearance was that of a ten month old
baby.
Her mother died from
Aids but thankfully she is NOT infected -but- she
was very sick.
Pneumonia, ringworm -
scabies and severe Anemia which should have been
treated with a blood transfusion but seeing as most
of the blood is contaminated we decided to allow
her to have just anti biotic medicine, good food and
love from the staff and thankfully she is making
excellent progress.
She has begun walking
–talking and laughing.
Cecilia and Monicah
have made fantastic progress with the children,
their appearance - manners and spiritual guidance.
All the children are
doing well in school and working hard towards their
end of term exams.
A very big thank you
to all who sponsor a child or children, without
sponsorship these children will not have a future.
All the children
look smart and healthy.
Each child wears
shoes [ flip flop] inside the home and outside and
good leather shoes for school
Thanks to your
continuous support financially we have been able to
buy every child one pair of strong leather school
shoes - two uniforms (clean every day) all the
school text books required for the next term and
dental treatment for 4 boys.
The medical side has
been catered for and each HIV child is up -to- date
with all checkups and medication.
The house now is
very clean and fortunately with a few donations and
visitors to the home we have basic food for two
months
Thanks to the Third
World Group and personal donations we have bought a
new fridge freezer - small freezer - and three
beautiful bunks beds complete with full length
mosquito nets - mattresses and pillows have been
purchased.
With a separate
donation given for the children to have a treat , a
trip into the Cinema was organised. To see each and
every child arriving so smart and well mannered was
fantastic and they enjoyed it very much.
The new Lioness Cubs
Home is taking shape with all interior walls now
completed and the roof is on. When all goes well the
new home will be ready by the end of the year. We
will be so delighted to move to the new home. Thanks
to Karel and Sabine Rozemeijer from Holland for
their support and their board members who give
efforts to do the entire fundsraising to make this
possible. With faith the opening is expected
beginning of 2011 and we shall be all there!
Each and every child
has wished you all Gods Blessings and sends you
their love.
Many thanks for your
support now let’s pull out all the stops and get
into this new home.
